In pop culture and social media, the word cuckold and cuck are being overused as insults to describe a weaker or lesser male, a beta male. Cuckold and its abbreviated form cuck aren’t being held true to the original definition and context perpetuated across many centuries. Perhaps there is a reason why our culture is categorizing beta males as cucks. One theory about this phenomenon maintains that a cuckold or cuck is such a weak male, he would not challenge another man having sex with his wife or girlfriend. Another theory is that men emasculate one another in an attempt to trump other men and order themselves within a virtual hierarchy. After all, the put-down “fuckboy” had nothing to do with fucking.
